Our biggest volunteer need is leaders for spring and fall outdoor education field trips (March-April-May and September-October). We need guides who are passionate about geology, aquatic biology, wildlife, team building and leadership, hiking, orienteering, Colorado history, and much more. If you want to change lives by sharing your love of the outdoors with schoolkids, this is an awesome opportunity. We welcome volunteers of all ages (18+) and backgrounds. Formal education in the subject matter is not required. Your curiosity and dedication to exploration will guide the way. Heart-J Center provides training and volunteer orientation.

HJC is a grant recipient for the Give Next Grant from Lucile Erwin Middle School which has allowed us to seed fund ELEVATE, an initiative aimed at stemming the tide of teen depression through nature-based programming, peer-to-peer mentoring, and professional therapeutic support. In 2024 we are launching our most ambitious impact initiative to date. Our goal is to elevate 2024 Colorado teens from isolation and anxiety to a place of hope, support, and a sense of belonging.
