Enjoy a delicious dinner by Sylvan Dale’s Chef Marcus Hollingsworth, followed by a presentation by Estes Park historian John Meissner about Isabella Bird, author of A Ladies Life in the Rocky Mountains. Miss Bird was an Englishwoman who traveled the world on her own. In 1873, she came to Northern Colorado with the goal of reaching Estes Park and climbing Longs Peak. Along the way, she explored the land that later became Sylvan Dale. Historians are preparing to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Miss Bird’s Colorado travels in 2023.
