The Jessup Family is making an incredible gift to the community by donating
Sylvan Dale Ranch to Heart-J Center to serve future generations!
The donation process has begun, with the gift of 960 acres of forest and meadows in the
foothills west of the main ranch, including the historic homestead known as Cow Camp!
Over time, the remainder of the Ranch will shift from being family-owned
to a nonprofit ownership structure. Though the business model will change,
all the things you love about Sylvan Dale will continue!
The responsibility for continuing the legacy of Sylvan Dale is passing
to the Heart-J Center AND to people like you who love this place.
Your tax-deductible gift makes a difference as we set the stage for the future of Sylvan Dale!
Heart-J Center is raising $500,000
to accomplish three goals:
1) Honor the Past: To restore the historic homestead at Cow Camp and provide funds for stewardship and management of the 960 acres of mountain land now owned by Heart-J Center.
2) Fuel the Present: Heart-J programs serve people of all ages from Northern Colorado and beyond. From school groups to veterans retreats, university research to wellness programs, every participant finds fun, exploration, relaxation, and inspiration in time spent at Sylvan Dale. Our purpose is to serve people by offering memorable outdoor experiences. Your support makes life better for 4,000+ people every year.
3) Secure the Future: To create a solid financial foundation to ensure a sustainable and viable future for Sylvan Dale once the donation process is complete and the Ranch shifts to nonprofit status.
Gifts to the campaign will be allocated evenly to the three goals stated above. If you want your gift to address a specific goal, just let us know and we’ll restrict your gift to that purpose!
The buildings at Cow Camp were built in 1915. 107 years of rough mountain weather has battered the homestead. We need to act now to save the house, barn, and outbuildings before these historic treasures are beyond repair. The barn is seriously threatened. The roof and walls are open to the weather and the sleeping loft has rotted through.

Gifts of stock can be transferred directly to our Fidelity Account (contact Laura for details).
Campaign gifts may be made as a two- or three-year pledge.
