Frequently Asked

Questions we hear most

What is ELEVATE?
+
ELEVATE is a nature-based mental health support program at Heart-J Center. Each session is a one-day outdoor experience guided by a facilitator, therapist, and wellness practitioner, designed to nurture healing, connection, and self-discovery.
Who is ELEVATE for?
+
All people of Northern Colorado. Sessions are especially designed with underserved communities in mind: college students and adults from underrepresented backgrounds, immigrants and refugees, LGBTQ+ community, first-generation students, those with neurodiversity, and people who work in service to others (healthcare, veterans, teachers, first responders, service workers, journalists, and many more).
Is ELEVATE therapy?
+
ELEVATE is a mental health support program, not clinical therapy or crisis care. A licensed therapist is part of every session, and participants leave with a Mental Health Field Guide containing tangible resources for ongoing care.
How long is a session and what does it cost?
+
A session is a full day, typically 5-6 hours, at Sylvan Dale Ranch. ELEVATE is funded through December 2026 and offered on a sliding-scale or fully sponsored basis. Ability to pay is never a barrier.
How many people attend?
+
Each session serves 15-30 participants. Custom cohorts are built around your organization, workplace, or community group.
What kinds of activities happen during a session?
+
No two days are the same. Activities may include river hikes, individual reflection in nature, art and writing, introductory yoga and breathwork, music and sound-bowl experiences, stress-management tools, and structured group discussions.
What should I bring?
+
Layered clothing appropriate for hiking, closed-toe shoes, sun protection, and a refillable water bottle. Detailed guidance is sent after registration.
Where is it held?
+
Sylvan Dale Ranch, 15 minutes west of Loveland, Colorado, and about one hour from downtown Denver. 960 acres along the Big Thompson River.
How do I register or schedule a program for my group?
+
Individuals can register through the ELEVATE registration form. Organizations, workplaces, and community groups can reach out directly to Laura Hershiser, ELEVATE Program Manager.
